prior to this unit, there was a late 1990's or early 2000's whirlpool window ac unit that was in the room for a while until sometime between 2010 and 2011 when it stopped blowing cold air and so this unit replaced it.

Yeah i've tried finding similar ones but not much luck, though i just recently found an old emerson quiet cool for sale on craigslist for 50 dollars.

I have the same model and it's fairly quiet... nothing like this one. Maybe it's the year, mine was purchased in 2017.

this air conditioner was purchased between 2010 and 2011, replacing an older whirlpool air conditioner from between 1999 and 2002.
